Sophienne Apartments

The city centre was easy to reach from this well-located apartment. Inside, it was spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed and a good range of equipment. We had a really lovely stay.

Our family has stayed in many apartments while travelling around Europe, and this may be the best one. The hosts were wonderful, and the place felt safe, was very comfortable, had a stunning view, and was easy to reach by public transport. I recommend it without reservation.

The U6 station right in front is useful for getting to central Vienna and other areas, though the neighbourhood itself is rather peripheral, with few services or restaurants. A pub opposite draws a crowd to its outdoor tables in the evening, and the busy street is noisy day and night. Double glazing helps but doesn’t block it all. There was also a strong weed smell coming from the neighbouring apartment, which I believe is privately occupied and not rented out. Whether that’s a plus or minus depends on you. The two-level apartment and terrace could be lovely, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, a nice view, and recent renovations. But it was dirty and badly maintained, and the construction work seems to have been done very poorly. The bathroom floor doesn’t slope properly, so after a shower more than a centimetre of water collects, leaving a dangerous puddle that has to be pushed away with the huge tool provided. The glass bathroom door offers no visual or sound privacy and won’t lock because the lock doesn’t line up with the wall. The terrace was neglected, with weeds between the tiles, dry leaves everywhere, a damaged umbrella and half-broken base, and a dirty, torn hammock. All the chairs wobbled. There was construction waste and spare tiles elsewhere in the building. Ants came through gaps by the terrace door and ran around the kitchen; the traps scattered about barely helped. The cost is completely unjustified for a place in this condition. No apartment or room should be rented with these problems.

Getting to the centre was easy from this well-connected apartment, and it was extremely clean. We had a great stay.
