The rooftop drink bar is a must for the spectacular views and atmosphere. We also found a vintage photo booth in the basement, like the ones in movies. From the short walk to the metro, we were pleasantly surprised by how grand the hotel felt, while it was still very quiet inside. The lobby and room both have a modern historical vibe. We’ll stay here next time we’re back in Vienna. Thank you 😊.

The breakfast is where the stay fell short. The restaurant is too small for a hotel this size, and from around 8:00 a.m. guests are often queued up waiting for a table. Seating is packed in tightly, with some people eating in the lobby. Staff seemed to be doing their best, but the young team sometimes looked overwhelmed or inattentive. Tables were cleared quickly to make room for new diners, yet used dishes stayed on our already small table during the meal, and orders could take a while. Some servers even returned empty-handed instead of clearing plates. The buffet was limited, although the freshly made eggs, especially the eggs Benedict, and squeezed orange juice were highlights. There are no toilet brushes in the bathrooms, which is a surprising omission for this kind of hotel. On the plus side, the rooms are tastefully modern and comfortable, and the staff are generally friendly. A kettle and coffee in the room were nice touches. The atmosphere feels international, with English spoken throughout. The Hoxton Vienna is well placed for exploring. Stadtpark U-Bahn station is an easy walk, and the city center is just minutes away. It’s a stylish hotel with a pleasant feel, but breakfast needs better organization to live up to the rest.

The room was comfortable, well equipped, and the amenities were good. The location is excellent, with everything close and convenient. Breakfast was delicious, and the restaurant on the 8th floor has a beautiful setting, lovely views, and a great atmosphere. The only issue was that the room felt a little cold, and the temperature couldn’t be set above 24°C. Otherwise, a very good stay, and I’d recommend it.

The room has impressively detailed finishes, and the lighting is a real standout. There are several dimmers so you can set a nice mood, and I appreciated the tea kettle too. The elevator and lovely rooftop bar were handy, and it’s about a 15-minute walk to Vienna’s Main Street. If you’re from North America, service here may feel just okay. That’s not unique to this hotel or Europe generally. The staff are friendly and mean well, but delivery can be slow. We asked for fresh bedsheets and they hadn’t been changed during the 3-4 hours we were out. Breakfast service dragged, and you’d best arrive before 10am or there’s no breakfast for you. The shower is actually great, but doesn’t get truly hot. The beds are small, though very comfortable. We had a nice stay and thought the hotel was nice.

What stood out most was the staff. We were there for six days, and as elderly guests, got to know several of the very friendly, helpful young people. Eunice and Dylan in the dining room and Bianca at Reception were especially kind and helpful. I also loved the mid-20th Century look, which is nicely done down to many small details. The shower was one of the best I’ve had in a hotel, just as good as the one at our current hotel in Budapest, The Prestige, which costs four times as much. The location was the downside for us. It’s a 10-minute walk to the old city, but bad weather made that a real barrier. Next time we’ll look for somewhere in the older part of town, though it’ll no doubt cost more. Our room also had no drawers and too little space for clothes. I’m giving this place five stars because of its wonderful staff.
