The apartment was comfortable and clean, in a fairly quiet area with an inner courtyard. The U-bahn and tram are nearby, and the kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. Since it's an old building, no air conditioning is understandable, but a regular standing fan would have helped a lot. Several lights and screens, including the TV, table lamp, and closet, couldn't really be switched off, which was distracting at night. We also struggled to lock the room from outside with the regular key because it wouldn't turn all the way.

Contact with the staff was easy, and the apartment was quiet, with courtyard-facing windows. The metro is only a few minutes on foot from the entrance, so getting around is simple. Everything listed in the amenities was there and worked perfectly, and the place was very clean.

We arrived in Vienna on May 18th for a three-night booking at Westside Apartments through Booking.com, from May 18th to 21st, costing €355. The day we arrived, the host sent the main entrance code and said we'd find the apartment keys under the doormat. There were no keys there, and we hadn't received an apartment access code the day before. The tenants next door had that information, so we asked them for help. We tried reaching the host on Booking.com, Whatsapp, and by phone. It was 7:00 PM, and the website said the host was available until 8:00 PM, so we expected a quick reply. After getting no response, we went to dinner assuming she'd get back to us. By 11:00 PM we still hadn't heard anything and had to find somewhere else. Vienna was packed with tourists, and after a long search we found accommodation around midnight for €814 for three nights. That cost us far more than we'd planned. At about 8:30 the next morning, the host sent an apology by text. She said it had been a holiday in Austria, she'd disconnected early and hadn't noticed our calls, and the cleaning lady had apparently forgotten to leave the keys. There was no call or effort to address the financial or emotional impact of what happened, which ruined our first evening in Vienna. Just a cold apology by message. A few days before our arrival, the host had told us not to use the dishwasher because it was broken. The afternoon before we arrived, she also asked whether a technician could come to the apartment at 1:30 PM the next day to replace the TV with a newer one. With what happened later, all of this felt disconcerting. After we asked Booking.com for help that evening, they immediately canceled our reservation, so I can't leave a negative review on their website. We don't usually post a negative review without good reason, but I wanted to call out the host's lack of professionalism and humanity.
