Viennaflats - Apartment Prater

This felt like a complete fraud, with the company charging guests without even letting them check in. The lobby boy seemed almost crazy and drove a car at a tenant. After we got accommodation, they immediately demanded cash, aggressively. They kick you out if you’re just a few minutes late, then keep cheating the next victim.

The apartment had plenty of space but only modest furnishings. The terrace, which helped draw us to the place as smokers, was being used to store abandoned things. Parking cost €25, and getting the garage door opened could take 30-50 minutes. We booked by email and paid for the services, but were still asked for a €300 cash guarantee on arrival. We’d said we’d arrive at 4:00 pm and got there at 3:45 pm, yet someone arrived at 4:45 pm. Phone replies were difficult, and we kept getting the simple answer, “5 minutes,” several times. At handover we were blamed for damage to a sink’s debris-retention piece and the plastic cover over the bathroom display. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. Attention, potential tourists! Never in these locations!!!

There was a terrible smell throughout the apartment, dirt everywhere, dirty dishes, and the floor was so filthy our socks stuck to it. We also found spiders. No soap, napkins, or cleaning products were provided. Record a video of any damage before moving in, as we did. If there’s a misunderstanding, call the police right away, that’s their business! DEAR TOURISTS, DO NOT BOOK THIS APARTMENT!! The owner was rude and brazen, and we felt he was trying to get money from tourists. He met us in a bad temper and demanded a €300 deposit, even though we’d paid for the booking. People caught up with him ask for receipts and his signature. He offered parking, then asked for money just to show us where it was. He seemed determined not to return the deposit, and made it hard to prove anything by inventing a boss and sending questions to him. We asked for the boss’s or office number, but got no address or phone number. The owner was rude and acted like a scammer. If you don’t know English or German, he’ll say he doesn’t understand you and that’s it. We eventually got our deposit back with the police, BUT!! First the owner wanted to call the police because we hadn’t given him the apartment keys, though he’d taken us for a ride. We pressed him and got our money, so 25 euros isn’t a lot of money.. !!

The photos are real, and the apartment is beautifully furnished with comfortable beds and even a bathtub. There’s a big balcony for sitting in the sun or smoking. The subway station is 150m away, reachable in 2 minutes. Wonderful apartment in the heart of Vienna, highly recommended.
