I booked a week through Booking.com for my family and our small child, and had already paid the full price. At the property, the landlord still demanded another €145 for final cleaning and tourist tax. I even got shouted at over the phone. I travel a lot and have never had an experience like this. Maybe he was after extra money, or perhaps the apartment had been double-booked and he wanted to put us off. Either way, be cautious.

There are some very nice restaurants nearby, including ones you can walk to. The apartment itself is lovely for two or three people, and makes a great base for exploring Carinthia's lake district.
