Gästehaus Trink B&B

For years, my wife, some dear friends, and I have gone to the Faaker See International Bike Week, the Harley Davidson event, for a 5-day holiday. There were four couples in total, and we visited Faaker See, Villach, Drobollach, and the beautiful surrounding area. We stayed at the Radhotel, which didn't serve breakfast, so each morning we crossed the street to this hotel / restaurant / bar. Depending on what we ordered, breakfast cost 11/16 Euros per person. That felt like a lot for a croissant, a roll with jam, cappuccino or tea, and a glass of orange juice, though the price itself wasn't my main complaint. Over several visits, we noticed mistakes on the bills, always overcharges, never undercharges. We let them go and treated the extra as a tip for the waitresses. One morning, after a particularly unpleasant interaction with the staff, I checked the receipt after paying and saw another mistake, this time 5 € too much. I politely asked the head waitress to correct it. She accused me of trying to steal money from her. I insisted on speaking with the Manager to stand up for our rights. The Manager joined the discussion, and the waitress spoke to him in South Tyrolean dialect, which I couldn't understand. They both looked at me contemptuously and called me dishonest, saying I wanted to steal their money. Then they said, "Tiefs!" and, "Ahh, the usual Italians Tiefs only Tiefs !!!!" The Manager opened the box, slammed a 5 euro note in my face, and told me to take it and go away. I picked up the note and threw it back at her face as she had done to me. Her reply was dirty Italian. My wife and friends and I had always been polite and respectful to the staff and other customers, despite being a group of eight. I felt we were treated very badly, perhaps because we were Italian. In my view, the head waitress, who may also be the mistress of the place, and the Manager, who is also the owner, behaved arrogantly and rudely, with a level of ignorance and unprofessionalism I rarely see in a public place. I thought the behavior was racist and showed poor culture and intelligence. I was left thinking, "But, what horrible people still can be found around". None of us, the other "Dirty Italians" like me, will return. Whenever I get the chance to talk about this hotel / restaurant with friends and people I know, I spend all my energy spreading my "Word of mouth / NEGATIVE Judgment" and explaining why. I've done this hundreds of times and will keep doing it. I don't want to explain anything to these ugly people because they don't deserve information that could help them improve. I condemn this behavior from the bottom of my heart. To me it all comes down to a lack of professionalism, culture, and intelligence. THEY ARE ONLY THE POOR TROGLODYTES ....... THAT GOD ASSISTS YOU!

I'm only commenting on trying to get breakfast as a visitor. The dishes are listed by number, and you have to choose from those options. It was hard to work out combinations so everyone could get what they wanted, since you couldn't simply ask for a croissant and a coffee. A 5-year-old doesn't drink coffee, but he couldn't swap the coffee for a soda. The number is the number.

The view across the Karawanken mountain range is breathtaking, and Faaker Lake is right next door. It's a beautiful family-run hotel by the lake.

The food was very good and the staff friendly. We'd be glad to come back anytime!
