Heidi Hotel works especially well for families with younger kids, up to around 10-12. Older children may find it less engaging. There’s plenty going on, from skiing and sledging to the pool, saunas, good food, and kids’ club activities. We especially enjoyed quiet evenings playing board games, and bingo with Gisele Kofer, one of the founders and owners, felt personal and welcoming. The evening concerts were a nice touch, too. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole place felt calm and family-like, never chaotic despite all the children. The kids’ club was difficult for our children at times because not everyone spoke English. The internet also wasn’t great, which could make working while the kids slept challenging. Skiing is fine for children learning, but there are only four slopes, two blue and two red, and they’re all quite short, so parents and experienced skiers may find it dull. We had a great time and would recommend it to families with younger children.

We’ve stayed here in both summer and winter. It’s a lovely place to slow down, unwind, and get to know the other guests. Kids from infancy through the early teen years have lots to enjoy, with simple sports, indoor and outdoor activities, childcare, and group programs that can keep them busy all day. Young children can explore and make friends on their own. Adults have plenty of outdoor options, plus the spa and pool. The food is good, though it isn’t fine dining, and the kitchen staff are accommodating and helpful. There’s a decent wine list and sometimes they offer tastings of house-made schnapps.

The kids’ activities were great for children up to about 10, and there’s plenty to do nearby for older ones, too. We tried archery and hiked in the mountains. The pool, wellness area, and table football were enjoyable, and the staff serving food were generally friendly and caring. Food was okay, and the hotel seemed professionally run. We shortened our stay by one night because of the weather. The hotel is at 1850 meters, and during our August week daytime temperatures were usually 12-15 degrees, dropping to around 8 at night. Most days were wet and cloudy. Maybe we picked a bad week, but temperatures were up to 10 degrees warmer about 1000 meters downhill. The laundry setup was frustrating when the hotel was full. There’s one washer and dryer, available from 9-21h, and they were constantly occupied. After several attempts over two days, I finally got to use the washer, only to find someone had stopped the cycle early and taken my clothes out. I’d suggest adding another washer and dryer or moving them somewhere guests can use them 24 hours a day. Overall, 3 stars.

I came here as a kid in the 1990s, and recently brought my own children back. It was a wonderful experience we won’t forget. The scenery is breathtaking, and the staff and family who run the hotel are lovely. Everything is set up with families and kids in mind.

We loved our visit in June 2012 and will come again if we get the chance. It’s a great area for hikers, and 3-4 days is enough to see everything. For a family with kids, it felt just right, with great food, rooms, views, and people.
