The view was awesome, and the price was very affordable. It’s a lovely little place in a small town, with really friendly and helpful staff. The only catch is the low ceilings. If you’re over 6'3", you’ll have to duck through the upstairs doorways. I loved it there anyway.
The food is delicious, and you get plenty for the price. Gashof Hahnenkamm is a really nice hotel, though it’s old and the beds aren’t the best. The welcome is always lovely, though.
Such great traditional Tiroler Küche. The place is now permanently closed, unfortunately, and I’ll miss them a lot. Mach's gut, sweet family who ran this place.
The food is still good, whether you order Cordon Bleu or Schlachtplatte, but a lot of the charm the Gasthof Hahnenkamm used to have has faded. The rooms are well below average: sagging beds, dated furniture, and a bathroom badly in need of renovation. The tiny tube TV was about 14 inches and had no remote, and there was no Wi-Fi. People smoked in one dining room. That wasn’t a big deal by itself, but the door to the stairwell was open, so the smoke drifted into the rooms. We wanted to leave after the first night, but stayed out of courtesy. Even at the end of the season, the house and its guests could be looked after a little better. We’d like to come back, just not under these conditions.
A real gem: a quiet spot with simple rooms, good food, and an extensive menu. The owner is really friendly and nice. It’s a good inn and the value for money is excellent.
