The balcony had a wonderful view of the surrounding hills, and the bathroom and room were clean. The room felt a little small, though that was partly because we left our things everywhere instead of putting them in the cabinet. Breakfast had about 15 sweet and savory choices, plenty for us, and the medium-cooked eggs from their own hens were a lovely extra. What made the stay feel so personal was sharing the house with the owners. We saw them every day, along with their little kids and their lovely dog, Missy. As a dog lover, I had a great time cuddling with her and playing fetch. She never seemed to tire. The one awful part was the shared balcony. It serves three rooms, which was fine, but the person next door smoked heavily and constantly. When we returned from our outings in the evening, we had to keep the balcony door open because it was too hot and stuffy inside in summer. Instead of fresh mountain air, we got smoke from his balcony. Our 6-year-old was with us, and we didn't want him getting used to breathing smoke. He'd never had to inhale so much before. If you're booking in summer, maybe check whether smokers will be next door. If I were the landlord, I wouldn't let guests smoke on the balconies, and I'm surprised it's allowed. That would normally be a deal-breaker for my rating, but the family, especially the lady of the house, was so wonderful and everything else was perfect that I'm not taking off any stars.
