Das Alpenwelt Resort

We really enjoyed the setting: right by the lift, with a great ski area, and the spa was amazing. The sun terrace was lovely too, especially for lunch outside, where the food was excellent. There was a DJ after skiing, the owner, with a younger crowd in mind. The rooms were fine, and half board was just okay, especially compared with what you could order separately at lunch. The part that spoiled the stay was the hospitality. We never felt welcome, and some interactions came across as rude. Because of that, we wouldn’t return, despite the location and facilities. We spent a week here with family and came away with mixed feelings.

I was here for a work weekend and had some really good dinners and enjoyable evenings. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and my room was clean and tidy. It’s in a fantastic spot with lovely views. I’d happily stay again next August when work brings me back to the area.

The views are spectacular throughout the hotel, including from the spa, and the restaurant team gave wonderful service. Ian at dinner and the blonde waitress at breakfast were especially great. The breakfast itself was extremely limited, with hardly any fruit and no fresh fruit juice or salmon. There weren’t towels at the spa or pools either, so guests had to make do all day with the same two from their room, even when soaked, carrying them from place to place. The white plastic chairs on the balconies also looked cheap and unattractive. It didn’t feel like a classy hotel.

We booked this hotel mainly because its website advertised a babysitter for young children for a fee, and we confirmed that with the hotel beforehand. On arrival, we found out they didn’t offer it at all. That was outrageous and a huge disappointment. The website made the place look luxurious and great for kids, but our experience was very different. The rooms weren’t clean and smelled of food, and the early check-in we booked wasn’t available. Communication was terrible. They didn’t speak German or English, so we couldn’t explain that my son has a nut allergy. I’ll never come back.
