Grand Hotel Zell Am See

The New Year celebrations were like a fairytale, with plenty of activities, live music, and amazing fireworks over the lake. Our kids had a birthday during the stay, and the hotel staff surprised us with cake and balloons, which made it even more special. We came for a ski holiday and New Year's, and have only good things to say. The hotel has olden charm, lovely views and a great location, plus spa areas, good food, and professional, friendly staff. We also enjoyed some delicious cocktails at the bar. It could use a little renovation, but we had a fantastic stay. Wishing the whole team a very happy new year!

A few things could have been better, though overall we had a great stay and the team is amazing. Many thanks to the reception staff, led by Alexander, and to the wonderful Spanish girl whose name I can’t remember, who went above and beyond for my son. Breakfast was excellent, but repetitive from day to day, and the coffee machine was inconveniently placed. The room needed better cleaning, with lots of dust, and we kept having to ask for basic things. Cigarette smell also came into my room from outside. Most critical to me was the food. A hotel of your caliber shouldn’t serve dishes made with frozen ingredients, like frozen salmon. I’d rather see a shorter menu featuring local ingredients and the chef’s creativity. It’s 2026, and that just doesn’t feel appropriate.

Set right on Lake Zell in the heart of Zell am See, Austria, this is a luxurious lakeside hotel with elegant rooms overlooking the lake and surrounding Alps. It blends classic charm with modern comfort. There’s a full-service spa, an indoor pool, fine dining restaurants, and easy access to skiing, hiking, and boating. With its location and high-quality service, it works well for both a relaxing break and year-round outdoor activities.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The furniture is old, and the staff were unprofessional. I had an inappropriate incident with a member of the kitchen staff, which management completely denied. The manager defended him instead of dealing with the complaint properly. There are no security cameras in the hotel, which felt very unsafe. A very disappointing stay.
