Hotel Latini

We came as a larger group, and from the first evening the experience was deeply disappointing. On that first night, a staff member banged aggressively on the reception desk and shouted at the children. They should have spoken to us, their parents, first. We have never encountered behavior like that before, and it was completely inappropriate. Even more shocking, a member of the reception staff physically struck and filmed the children. That is unacceptable under any circumstances. After the first night, the rooms were extremely cold, around 18°C. When we asked to turn up the heating, we were told we could have an extra blanket if we were cold. We needed a properly heated room, not more blankets. That temperature is not acceptable for paying guests. The way our group was treated felt unwelcoming and cold. We also saw Austrian tourists being treated much more warmly. The difference was obvious and unpleasant, and felt a little racist. The food was mediocre at best, and several people in our group had stomach problems after eating there, which raises concerns about food quality and hygiene. There’s no ramp for luggage, so guests have to carry heavy bags up the stairs, which was especially inconvenient for a large group. Respect, communication, safety, and basic comfort were all lacking. This was a very negative stay, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anybody.

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel bar was fantastic, with two very friendly, talented bartenders, and the rooms were comfortable. There’s a decent pizza place connected to the hotel, with a warm, cozy feel. The mountain is within walking distance, while historic zell am see is a quick train ride away. The station is even closer, just a short walk down the street.

The Spa and the location were better than the rest of the stay, but this hotel didn’t meet what I’d expect from a 4-star property. Some staff members were very rude or even aggressive. Heating was on only in the evening and switched off during the night and day, so the room got very cold. Although there are luggage carts at reception, staff explicitly said they don’t offer help with luggage. The beds and pillows were small and uncomfortable, the old bed linens weren’t changed during our stay, and the room carpet was very old and stained. There was no fridge either. At breakfast, some German-speaking families had tables set with their names on them, while the rest of us, including our group, were seated at the back at tables that hadn’t been prepared.

The rooms were small but warm and very clean, and the spa area was spotless too. There was lots of attention to detail. The food was extraordinarily good, with something for all tastes. The twins who served us were lovely and charismatic. I highly recommend the hotel.
