The balcony was the highlight, with a view of the lake and, on some mornings, mist over it. You can also see the ski slopes opposite. We stayed five days for skiing and had everything we needed. The accommodation matched the pictures and our expectations, though we didn’t see any animals apart from the ones pictured. The last kilometer of the access road is steep and narrow, which I first thought might be a drawback. After driving up twice, I got used to it. It’s a very nice, cozy place with a lovely hostess. When we return to Zell am See, I’ll check whether the Kronawendthof is available again.

The mountain views are the best part. Quite often we were above the clouds, and when they lifted, we could see right across the lake and Zell. Fresh milk and eggs are available from the organic farm, too. The apartment works well for winter sports, but getting there can be tricky: the road is narrow and winding, snow chains are essential, and it isn't always cleared. In bad conditions, driving may become impossible.

There are animals all around the farm, from dairy cows and chickens to a rabbit, which makes it a lovely choice for families with kids. The Gruber family were very kind and helpful, and happy to answer our questions. The setting is beautiful, with a grand view of the lake and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier area.

The hosts were flexible and really friendly, and the apartment had everything we needed. We also loved the view over Zell am See. It's a great choice for a few days in the area, and we'd definitely come back.

We felt at home with the Gruber family. The apartment was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed, and the farm animals were very friendly. We stayed over New Year's and loved looking out from the balcony at the mountains and Zell. It's peaceful there while still being central, so it worked as a great base for all sorts of activities.
