Selwyn Star Motel

Anna was lovely and arranged for a nearby friend to take our skis and snowboard back to Selwyn resort when snow stopped us returning to ski the next day. We really appreciated that. The price was the problem. We booked a double room and a family room a few months ahead at $500 a night per room. It was peak season, the first week of school holidays, but the current online prices are around $380, so I wouldn’t book in advance. The double room was very small, with space for just the bed and a few bags. This was the most expensive motel room I’ve stayed in.

The staff were accommodating with extra requests and took my feedback on board, which made the stay better. The rooms are small, but this is one of the more affordable places in the area and close enough to the snowfields for the drive to be manageable.

The receptionist was kind, and the staff had my room neatly made up. It was clean, the prices were cheap, and I loved staying here. I went during the Easter Festival, which was a great time to visit. I’d happily stay again.

We arrived with a group of 14 just after the power had come back on, and Irwin welcomed us so warmly. We unpacked the cars and got warm by the fire, then did some karaoke while the kids watched movies. When the other guests came back from the snowfields, we all sat around chatting by the fire. It was such a lovely evening, and we’ll definitely be back. The rooms are small but fit a family, and everything was very clean and tidy. Thanks for having us, Irwin, everything was great!
