We stayed five nights, and at $200 a night it felt overpriced. The location is great for the convention centre, but otherwise I’d avoid this hotel. There was noise all day from outside construction and work happening inside, which was unpleasant. The rooms are dated, the bathrooms small, and our bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, with confetti left all over. The lifts and other indoor areas were old and noisy too. Some of the kitchen pots and utensils were damaged or broken and clearly needed replacing. The bed was uncomfortable and hard for both of us to manage. At check-in, reception made mistakes, including not giving us the internet access codes, so we had to get them ourselves later.

The only drawback was the shower over the bath. Getting into the spa bath meant a high step, and it was slippery with little room to turn or bend, so it may not suit older people. Otherwise, good value and right in the centre of everything. My room on the 10th floor facing North Tce looked over the convention centre roof, while my friend’s room on the 7th floor at the back faced a less appealing car park. The room had good space, an essential kitchenette, dishwasher, and washing machine. We could choose daily service or coffee vouchers, and I was happy with the coffee.

No hot water for a large part of the day, no housekeeping at all, and a room that smelled like a sewer with dirty bugs across the bathroom floor. They called the water issue emergency repairs, though signs had been plastered around the lifts days or weeks beforehand. I can’t see how it’s legal to charge full room rates when facilities can’t be used. We called the manager for three days in a row, but he wouldn’t return anyone’s call. Front-of-house staff had to deal with the constant unhappy customers while the manager stayed silent. The only time I saw him, he was smoking outside the hotel on multiple occasions. Pure professionalism, that. Gross. Never again. Whatever he’s paid is far too much. The hotel is disgusting and his service is appalling. Gross misconduct and false advertising throughout our stay.

The room, hotel, location, and amenities were all beautiful and clean. I especially want to thank Gegan, and I’m sorry if I’ve got the spelling wrong. He was the gentleman on the overnight desk during my last stay. I couldn’t get the rinse and dry function working in our unit. At 10:30 PM, he took all my clothes himself, rinsed and fully dried them, then brought them back so I could get home with my belongings. A huge shout-out for going above and beyond. Thank you!

The room was serviced just once in our four-night stay, and only after I went to reception on the second day to ask if it would happen. Neither room phone worked. They told us to put the “make up my room” sign on the door, but there wasn’t one. When it still wasn’t serviced on day three, reception said it was because of the public holiday. I’ve never encountered that before. For almost $1,100 for four nights, I’d expect rubbish to be taken out and towels replaced. We had an OK stay, but might look at other places next time we’re in Adelaide. The bed was super comfortable, and our spacious apartment suited two people well, with a full-sized fridge and a kitchenette stocked with cooking utensils. Best of all, from our 15th-floor balcony we had an excellent view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks.
