The location is great, but the meals are very low class. I didn't stay overnight, so can't comment on the rooms. I went to the Grand Bar for a meal and it was well below par. I ordered the pork snitty with mushroom sauce for $31. It was small and underwhelming, and I asked if they'd accidentally served me half a portion. I was told that's the normal size. The tiny cup of gravy was another $3, and the salad was dry and bland. I had cut two small corners off for the photo, but even so the meat would barely cover a quarter of the plate. The flavour was just okay, but I won't be rushing back. My daughter ordered chicken Parm, then got a refund when they realized the pineapple was off. Even the bar staff agreed it was rank.

The room was too hot because the air conditioning did nothing. The bed was comfortable, though a little soft, and staff were capable and polite. The bathroom was mostly clean, but some parts of the room could have been better attended to. The location is excellent and very central, with a lovely balcony view. Parking costs $30 for the night, with very tight spaces that aren't ideal for a larger or taller vehicle. The minibar is steep too, at $12 for a bottle of water, and breakfast was an extra $40 for two. A reasonable stay overall, with good facilities.

The bar is raised up and nicely presented, with old-fashioned seating, Chesterfield sofas and chairs. The bar staff were friendly and drinks were reasonably priced. The location is perfect. High tea wasn't a great experience. The food was mediocre, cold and overdone, though the sandwiches were the best thing on offer. The staff were friendly, but chamomile tea came in an Irish coffee cup. The next one arrived in a giant mug and had to be poured into a teacup. The area had a great view, but the windows were dirty and searing, and the tables felt like they belonged in a local bakery. It didn't feel stylish or upmarket.

Breakfast was poorly staffed, with food often running out and not being replenished quickly, and dinner at the hotel restaurant was disappointing for the price. My wife and I stayed at the Stamford Grand on 14 and 15 Nov using the Coast is Calling accommodation voucher. We appreciated the voucher and its $200 contribution, but paid over $800 in extra charges, including separate parking and extra fees for a city or ocean view. We had specifically asked for a walk-in shower because of our mobility needs, yet were charged a supplement for it. That made the stay feel neither safe nor comfortable, especially given the cost. I believe an accessible shower should be treated as a basic safety provision for elderly guests, not an upgrade. I plan to seek advice from an Aged rights advocate about aged care rights and facilities. I hope the hotel reviews these accessibility charges and improves dining and breakfast service for future guests.

Being right on the beach, with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, made the location really nice. The ocean view room was spacious and had an awesome outlook. Breakfast only started at 7am, which was a bit difficult on a golf trip.
