Backpackers at 1770

We spent one night in a private room, and it was clean and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the location was excellent. Thanks for a lovely stay, we’ll be back!

Really good value, with a welcoming community and great staff. It’s right by the cafes, bakeries, shops and restaurants. Just be aware the kitchen only has two burners, which can make cooking tricky.

The separate rooms beside the hostel are cozy and comfortable. I’ve stayed here several times and would highly recommend it.

I switched to the private room in the house next door after my first night in a dorm, where the mattress wasn’t comfortable for me, probably just because of my build. The private room was super clean, with a relaxed beach style, a fully equipped kitchen, a nice bathroom and a lovely veranda. It felt very Australian and was only a few steps from the common areas, so joining in was easy. The staff were incredibly helpful, even late at night when my bus didn’t show and I needed to book another connection quickly. They stayed calm and supportive, and really went out of their way. Evenings were fun and social, whether hanging by the firepit, joining activities, chatting with other travelers or picking out a surfboard for the next day. Backpackers at 1770 was the right choice for my stay in Agnes Water. I’d read some less-than-stellar reviews of other hostels in town, and didn’t regret choosing this one for a second. I had a great time and met amazing people. Agnes Water is a little slice of paradise, and you won’t want to leave.
