ibis Styles Alice Springs Oasis

The check-in staff we dealt with were lovely, and we chose this hotel because it was close to the hospital where my daughter is being treated. Even so, I’d rather walk from somewhere else than stay here again. The car park is disgracefully tight and small, with cars parked everywhere at night. Once you’re in, you can’t get out. My daughter’s car was hit and the driver left, costing her hundreds of dollars. Our room was dirty, including the sheets, towels, and bathroom. Housekeeping was behind on the first day and didn’t sort it out. They also left used cups, so we had to wash them ourselves. We wouldn’t use the restaurant again. It was expensive for the portion size, and they didn’t have the food we wanted. Staff couldn’t work the POS to place an order, and we couldn’t pay cash because they didn’t know how to open the till.

We slept well and felt comfortable and relaxed in our room. The staff were friendly, the grounds immaculate, and the place clean, with reasonably secure parking. It’s come a long way since our last visit in 2016, when we vowed never to return. For a budget motel, it’s good value.

After all our travelling, it was great to settle into a comfortable hotel room. Then we found a baby had pooped in the pool. The family didn’t remove it, and there was no staff member around to put up a warning sign or clean it. We’d already been swimming in there for 10 minutes before noticing. Gross.

The room smelled moldy, the beds and sheets were unclean with visible stains, and the toilet and bathroom were very grotty. The night was also awful. The room next to us was extremely loud, with at least five people in a three bed suite, maybe more. Kids ran around and knocked on doors, while arguments and screams went on through the night. When we asked management about the people sitting, smoking, and drinking on the grounds, we were told they were paying guests. There were cash-in-hand deals apparently being made on the side by the manager, which surprised me. The entrance was very trashy and made it clear locals used the grounds to hang out. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!
