Mercure Alice Springs Resort

The bed was very comfortable, the room had plenty of space, and there was lots of parking. Reception were friendly and efficient, and check-in went smoothly. The bathroom had a bathtub and a few stains, but that was fine for an overnight stay. We were comfortable in the room. Dinner was a different story. We had a booking, but were told our table wasn’t ready even though several tables were empty. They eventually seated us at an unset table, which we didn’t mind. We weren’t expecting a fancy restaurant. For the entree we ordered the kangaroo and crocodile tasting platter. The crocodile was seasoned well. The kangaroo was diced, which made it look like trimmings, and came with sauce in two takeaway containers. Slices with some outback spices or sauce would have been more appealing. We asked for the mains when the entree arrived, and they came within about four minutes, while we were still eating. My steak was juicy and tender, but only warm. The roast potato seemed deep-fried and reheated in a microwave, with a hard outside that wasn’t pleasant. My partner’s beef cheek and mash were lukewarm outside and cold inside. We were tired after a long drive and arrived late, so didn’t complain then. When we paid, I mentioned that the beef cheek needed heating longer. The cashier said it was “strange” it wasn’t hot. No complaint doesn’t mean every dish was fine, and the mains arriving mid-entree didn’t seem to surprise anyone. I’m just giving feedback as an ordinary diner. These things could be fixed and make a meal much more enjoyable. We’d probably stay for the room again, but eat dinner elsewhere.
