Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge

The bay view from our lovely room was beautiful, and the restaurant was amazing. We really appreciated the welcome treats of wine, cookies and crisps after a long travel day. The main drawback was the kitchen closing at 8 pm, which feels early for Kangaroo Island. Ferry delays can make dinner plans hard to predict, and there aren’t many other places to eat in this rural area. It would be helpful to have some food options for guests who arrive late.

Thanks for a very peaceful night. Our new room, built in December 2025, was clean and comfortable, with free movies, water, wine and a bag of chips. They’d also left local Kangaroo Island treats, honey lip balm and eucalyptus oil.

The food was very good and fairly priced, especially the curry, and breakfast was lovely, though huge. Everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. The lodge and rooms are modern and well cared for, with lovely views and a beautiful setting. So glad we stayed here. Can’t recommend it enough.

The lodge is a great base for exploring the island’s eastern and central sights, with nearby walking trails along the edge of Pelican Lagoon. After a day out, it’s lovely to come back to a quiet place with high standards, or spend a peaceful evening by the pool. The seven acres of bushland are full of birds and feel secluded, while the waterfront across the bay is especially serene at sunrise, when the water is often glass-calm. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and look out toward the natural surroundings. Reflections Restaurant makes seasonal dishes with local seafood and regional wines, some of the finest on the island. It balances the comforts of a four-star hotel and premium branding with an authentic KI feel, while fitting naturally into American River’s landscape.
