Ardrossan Caravan Park

We had a powered site with our camper trailer, close to the amenities, which worked well for us. The weather was pretty windy, so we left the awning down. The kids, and us adults too, had fun with the playground, pickle ball and giant connect. Shops, the jetty and the cliff top playground are nearby, and it was a pleasure staying in this quiet, sleepy coastal town. It's also a good base for visiting other beaches within an hour or two's drive.

The drive-through sites worked well, though there wasn't much room to park a car if you've got a large vehicle. It can get quite dusty when the wind blows, which happens often, but that was only a minor annoyance and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is great too, with an easy walk into town for everything you might need.

The management were really friendly and helpful, and it was easy travelling with our dog. The park and plenty of local businesses are dog friendly. During the school holidays there was live music, free ice blocks for the kids each day, and a little goody bag when we arrived. The kids also enjoyed the great playground. Facilities were spotless and the sites a good size. There are quite a few permanent holiday home caravans, mostly together on the other side of the park, and they were all tidy and friendly. It's a lovely base for exploring either side of the peninsula, with the ocean, jetty and town just a short walk away. In town there are new playgrounds, a bike pump track and a lovely little coffee shop on Main Street. No dodgy permanents. A real gem, we'd recommend it.

Thanks to Sonya and Shane for making us feel welcome. We had a travel voucher for five days but ended up staying longer. The Sunday band was a great touch and brought everyone together for a lovely night. We'll be back.
