Atherton Blue Gum

Blue Gum makes a handy base for exploring the Atherton Tablelands. There’s plenty to do nearby, from bird watching and bushwalking to seeing waterfalls, rainforests and open eucalypt forests. The Herberton Range is just across the valley for 4WD enthusiasts and mountain bikers, and adventure motorcyclists have local rides from easy through to extreme.

The parking spaces are a bit tight, but that’s the only drawback I can think of. My room was spacious and very clean, and it was just a few minutes’ drive from Atherton centre. I really enjoyed my three nights here. Matt, the new owner, was lovely and always ready to help. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff’s cheerful, helpful manner made this a great stay. Our room was nice and clean when we arrived, with its own bathroom. There was also a small kitchen outside the room, with a fridge for storing food. It worked well for putting together simple meals. We stayed in June and really enjoyed our time here.

We arrived after 7pm following a very last minute request for a room. Matt was the only person who answered my call, as lots of places stop being available after 5 or 6. He went out of his way to find us a room, made sure we had what we needed when we got there, and even offered us lunch the next day. He was very kind and had lots of interesting stories to share. A real gem.
