Cape York Peninsula Lodge

The food was a real highlight: 10/10. The pork belly, bruschetta, chocolate brownie and buffet breakfast were all delicious. The staff I met were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and neat, with soft linen that felt like home. The air con got nice and cold, and the landscaping was lovely and peaceful. The location was very convenient too. This place exceeded my expectations. Well done, team! 😎

The cabin looked out over a creek surrounded by dense greenery, and the gardens were well cared for. It was also very close to the town supermarket, with 4WDs available to hire. Those were the good points, but I found the value for money really poor, and it’s hard to recommend visiting the area when the stay costs so much for what you get. There’s no competition, which might explain it, but I hope they put more into management. At $460 a night, the room was very simple and the mattress wasn’t good. The rooms were okay otherwise, but still felt overpriced. They also hadn’t arranged the two separate beds we’d agreed on by email. When I arrived, they offered a more expensive room at my expense. That felt like zero customer care. Breakfast was an extra cost, and a disappointment. I got there at 8am, half an hour before it closed, but there was almost nothing left. No one offered to ask what we wanted, so I had to request a cup, scrambled eggs and orange juice. The hot food that remained wasn’t hot anymore. Again, zero customer care.

The rooms are comfortable, and the staff are really friendly. A great place to stay.

Dinner was great, and the restaurant service was good. We each had a cocktail or beer, and they were cold. Earlier, we’d arrived in town after 6, dusty from the Telegraph Track and without a booking for the night. Tamara at reception was friendly and helpful, and found us two comfortable rooms. We were able to shower before heading to the restaurant. Definitely recommend Cape York Peninsula Lodge. 👍
