The prawns were tasty and the chicken in my surf and turf schnitty was cooked nicely. The chips came out a little soggy, though. It was still a good meal, with friendly service and an easygoing pub atmosphere. I’d come back and try something different.

Justin, the hotel manager, was especially kind and did a lot to help me through a difficult moment on my return trip to Sydney 🙂 The room was spotless, with lovely timber floors, high ceilings and an excellent shower. The staff were fantastic.

Can’t comment on the rooms, but I enjoyed the food. A rump and a parma for $42 felt like 1990s prices. The beer was cold and there was Carlton draft on tap, so that worked out well for me.

The Commercial was buzzing when we stopped in for Saturday lunch, with plenty of merriment around. Our ribs were tender, the chips crisp, and the buffalo wings crunchy outside but moist inside. Everything was top notch 👌🏻 The staff were friendly and engaging too. Good work, Commercial 👌🏻

I chose the salmon and surf with mash and beans for my counter meal, and it was lovely. The one letdown was learning the salmon was farmed Tasmanian salmon. That was misleading to me, as I expected salmon from nature, not a swimming pool.
