Sun Valley Motel Biloela

The owners seem to have thought through what travellers need, and there’s a generous, helpful spirit about the place. In the room, there’s a little kitchen with a microwave, dishes, cutlery and a choice of glasses, plus a desk nook and bedside lamps. Guests can also use the big shared kitchen and dining area for a free continental breakfast, and there’s a barbecue in the public area. This motel deserves its good rating and reviews.

We were four adults and three children, cooked dinner in the good guest kitchen, then had the complimentary breakfast. The rooms were clean, tidy and well maintained. We made sure to clean up after ourselves. For the price, this motel was very impressive and great for a quick night’s stay.

We were a family of four, and sadly this was the worst motel we’ve stayed in. The room seemed to date from around the 1960s and looked as if it had never been renovated. We paid $95 a night for five nights, but the towels were changed only once, and the room was never cleaned or vacuumed. There was just one small TV on a wall, so the beds faced the other wall and the view was poor. The bar fridge was rusty outside and in very poor shape. Tea and coffee were provided only once. The fiberglass shower base felt a little wobbly, as if it might crack in the middle. The soap holder was too small for shampoo and soap, so I had to put them on the floor while showering. There was no basin plug to save water while shaving. We were very disappointed with everything, and felt the standard was very poor for what we were charged.

The room was very clean and tidy, and after a full day travelling, that extremely comfortable bed was a welcome relief. Staff were friendly and explained everything clearly. A continental breakfast came with the room, and there were several pillows to choose from. There was even a new razor in the cupboard under the bathroom sink, a nice touch. A very nice restaurant is less than a three minute walk across the street. Highly recommended.
