The location is awesome, but I’m not sure I’d camp here again. I was there for one night in the swag area near the toilets, site 60, and the hot water system hummed loudly all night. In the morning we had no running water, which was even more disappointing. I texted the manager at 4am, but it wasn’t fixed until 8am, after we’d already left. The fire pit at the "tea house" runs until dark every day and sends a lot of smoke into the tents area.

There are loads of trailheads you can reach straight from the campsite, and the bushwalkers bar nearby is handy for a beer after a hike. The lodge terrace has a stunning view and serves decent food. The campsite itself is cool, quiet, and has clean facilities, with only a few pitches. Ground tents may feel cold and damp on the hard ground, which is entirely under trees. Bring the right kit. Some swag sites sit near the road, though it didn’t bother us much since there was no night traffic.

It’s a beautiful site, but I wouldn’t recommend staying overnight. Compressors and engines run through the night, making it far too noisy to feel immersed in nature. Such a shame.

The National Park and its trails are amazing, with varied forest and views in every direction. Tent camping seemed reasonably spread out and fairly quiet at night, even though the sites are right beside the road. Caravans are another story. Sites 56 and 57 are tiny, and people in the camp kitchen can stare right at your legs from about three feet away. They should be a single site instead of trying to squeeze in two. Maybe they’d work for a rooftop tent or small camper van, but towing in means testing your reversing skills. The other six powered sites are okay. Facilities were clean, but dated and moldy. I’m left divided about the place: it seems geared more toward glamping than caravans.
