Pearly Shell Motel

The room was very basic, there was just one blanket per bed in the cupboard, none laid out on the beds, and the blinds didn't fit the windows. With people sitting outside smoking, there was no privacy. Parking was really difficult because the spaces are meant for small cars, and it was very noisy. The rooms were advertised at $104, but I called to book while en route because everywhere we passed was booked out, and they charged $140 to my card over the phone. I wasn't told the amount until after the transaction went through. I wouldn't stay again.

The room was clean and reasonably priced, and the shower was ok. But we booked online a couple of hours ahead and were downgraded from a queen to a double at the same price, apparently because the bathroom was leaking. The bathroom sink was in the kitchenette, there were no plates for food, and only complimentary tea and coffee plus a small fridge. The air con was noisy, and there was a small dipping pool. I don't know how motels like this get their stars. Thanks for the clean room, but yesterday's decor at tomorrow's prices. It feels like they don't want to upgrade.

It's decent budget accommodation, with all the basics: fridge, microwave, toaster and jug. The amenities were fine, though the rooms could use a proper clean. The air con was a little noisy and not exactly modern. The toilet was the main problem. It clearly hadn't been cleaned before we went in, and it smelled terrible. That cost it a whole star. Otherwise it would've been 4.
