Madison Capital Executive Apartments

The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable, and had been renovated. It was nice to have a proper shower screen instead of a curtain over the bath. Breakfast was included, mostly continental but with lots of choice, including pancakes. The location is spot on, opposite Hyde Park (market on Sunday) and just one block from all the eateries. Public transport right out front is a bonus. The outside gives you a moment of doubt, but the interior makes up for it. Lovely experience, and we’ll definitely stay again.

Qantas cancelled my flights too late for me to arrange alternatives, which disrupted my travel plans. This place refused to refund me. That tells me where their priorities are. I’ll never book here again.

The location was great for nearby restaurants, and handy if you have a car. The hotel also has free parking. Breakfast was included, but don’t expect much variety: mostly sweet things like croissants, muffins, and pancakes. The coffee was surprisingly good. We stayed one night. The room was quite old, which wouldn’t have bothered us, but there was dust under the A/C and in the corners. I had to pull the side desk out to reach the socket, and I’m sure nobody had cleaned behind it. It’s okay if you need a room for a night, but I wouldn’t expect too much.

The studio was good value for one night and the location was great, but this definitely isn’t a 4-Star hotel. There’s nothing premium or luxurious about it, and breakfast is basic. Parking is limited, with paid street parking as the fallback if you can’t fit into one of the hotel’s extremely tight spaces. It looks like an old building with an average makeover. I’d be happier if it were rated three stars.
