Alpine Hotel Bright

The room was nicely renovated and the location is right in the middle of town, but there was a lot of outside noise in room 2, and the fridge was loud enough that I turned it off. The bed was definitely a double, despite the room being advertised as a Queen. I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known. Check-in service was okay but stand-offish. It’s also very expensive for what you get compared with other regional Victorian tourist towns, though that seems standard in Bright.

We went to the restaurant twice with a big group, and everyone was happy with both the food and the service. Our wait staff were attentive, cheerful and helpful, especially given how many of us there were. I’d recommend it and would go again. We didn’t stay there.

The fish and chips arrived with no fish in the batter, and the schnitzel seemed processed. The meals really weren’t up to scratch. To her credit, the lovely waitress noticed the missing fish and gave us a full refund.

The rooms are small but manageable and very clean. The location is handy, right near the centre of Bright, so you can walk everywhere. Parking is very tight, and since we had push bikes with us, there was nowhere to lock them up.
