The Milton Brisbane

We got sick after staying here, and we’ll never come back. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly when we arrived, with carpet stains, and then they charged us without warning over the state it was left in even though we made sure it was clean. The pool was awful, heated and shallow, and the car park was awful too. We were abused while trying to get in, and the doorknob was broken. Worst place we’ve stayed.

We were there for three weeks, paying around $7k, and ended up going through Queensland Fair Trading to sort things out. They ultimately refunded us about 30%. The hotel replies to Google reviews saying feedback is taken seriously and passed on internally, but that wasn’t what we experienced. Great location, terrible value. If cleanliness and safety matter to you, take the negative reviews seriously. The pool was tiny and had missing or faulty gates the whole time. When we offered to help put up a baby gate temporarily, front desk staff laughed us off. The problems were only fixed after we escalated to Brisbane City Council. Management and desk staff, with one or two exceptions, were dismissive and unhelpful. Later they accused us of being rude and aggressive and even suggested some photos were staged. When we raised the pool safety issues, they said it “won't be on us” if someone drowns, then hung up. We found previous guests’ rubbish throughout the apartment, including a used stoma/ostomy bag, a condom and bandage wrappers, hair ties, crumbs in kitchen shelves and drawers, rancid used oil and food scraps in the oven, exposed electrical wiring, blocked and broken extractor fans, and stained, filthy, hairy carpets. There was more, and much of it was still there after a “deep clean” and several weekly services. Our toddler kept finding things under furniture that clearly hadn’t been touched in a long time. Basic hygiene and housekeeping were completely lacking.

Getting around Brisbane was easy with Milton Train Station right next door, and the reception team went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. The Level 6 facilities were impressive too: a well-equipped gym, sauna and steam rooms, sparkling pool, and roomy spa tub. There was a $1 security bond held on the card. A comfortable, convenient stay with a touch of luxury. Highly recommended!

The real standouts at The Milton were the staff. They were friendly, professional, and so accommodating. We stayed six weeks, and the rooms were lovely too, with beds so comfortable it was hard to get up. We’d definitely stay again. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
