It’s a roof over your head, and better than nothing, but the place was really old and run down. The pool was overgrown with weeds and rubbish, so you couldn’t swim in it. Inside, the rooms were very dark, and the lounge chairs swallowed you up so badly you needed hiking gear to get back out. There’s a lot of room for improvement.

My booking was cancelled too, and I only found out when I arrived. After that bad start, the cleaner turned things around by messaging me about a complimentary stay. I stayed last night and found it comfortable and spacious. I loved the customer service and the forest parkland, and I plan to put Forest Lodge Apartments on my list to revisit. I do recommend staying here.

At $250 per night, this was an absolute rip-off. Everything felt dirty, including the grounds and pool. The beds in the second room were unbearable, with every spring digging in. Dust was everywhere and had me sneezing the whole time. The dishes in the cupboards were dirty; lights and a lamp didn’t work, and dining chairs were broken and filthy. For two people staying 5 nights, there was just one roll of toilet paper, then they charged 50 cents per roll. Our towels weren’t changed on day 3 as advertised. Management and staff were dismissive, and there was no care for the accommodation, gardens, facilities or guests. Nothing about them felt hospitable. I’ll never stay there again. Find somewhere else, anywhere would be an improvement. They ought to be ashamed.

The bed was comfy, the bedding was high quality, and the towels were fluffy. But the room decor was still stuck in the 70s, when the place was probably built, and it badly needs renovating. Even though the office was open when I arrived and checked out, I got the key from a box outside and dropped it back there when I left, so I didn’t actually deal with staff. I stayed one night and wouldn’t want to stay longer.

Lee, the manager, was friendly and very helpful, and the room had clean, comfortable beds with crisp sheets. I stayed two nights in a one-bedroom apartment. It’s an older motel with basic rooms, so don’t expect a five-star hotel, but it has what you need. The grounds are full of trees and feel like a tropical rainforest. It’s a great spot if you need to be outside the city, with a shopping centre close by and the city 10-15 minutes away. I’d stay again if I’m back in Brisbane.
