Nightcap at Manly Hotel

My plane delay was easier to deal with thanks to this little place. The room was beautiful, very clean, and the bed was soooo comfortable. It’s a lovely, beautifully restored pub with great staff and meals from a great chef. Cafes, a bakery, shops, and other places are all walkable. I’ll definitely stay here again.

I arrived after a four-hour trip from Hervey Bay and found no receptionist, just a buzzer. Someone eventually came and handed me the keys, then I had to climb two steep flights of stairs. I’d paid for a Superior Queen room, but it was nowhere near as large as the photos suggested. The toilet seat came right off in my hand when I lifted it. A young man came up after I called, tried to fix it, couldn’t, and apologised that there was nothing he could do. When I asked about breakfast, he said they didn’t serve it and suggested places along the road. I told him I wouldn’t stay both nights, the 24th and 25th, and would leave first thing in the morning. Later I checked online and saw four vacant rooms. Why wasn’t I offered one? My rating for the experience is minus 15 out of 10.

A friendly place in a central spot, within walking distance of everything. The rooms were lovely and clean, the meals fantastic, and the staff awesome. Great amenities too.

We were surprised by how much the room exceeded our expectations. It’s above the hotel, but the noise really wasn’t excessive, less than hotels beside main roads. There’s an after-hours number to call if neighbours get too noisy, though we didn’t need it. The location is great, close to the foreshore, pool, IGA supermarket, gift shops, and places to eat. The room was clean, with lovely pillows, sheets, and towels, plus a full-length mirror. It had a bar fridge but no freezer, toiletries, a hairdryer, and an iron and ironing board. The shower got properly hot, though the water took about a minute to come through, which felt wasteful. We each got a $10 drinks voucher. Staff were extremely busy when we arrived but still attentive, and we didn’t feel like a bother.
