The Constance

The rooms are quiet, the bed is comfy as, and you're close to bars and restaurants. The staff are amazing, and I'd happily stay again, no worries at all. 9.9/10. Everything else was perfect. My only gripe was the squeaky bathroom sliding door and a shower door that felt too big for the bathroom.

I emailed all of this and got no reply or acknowledgement, so I feel I should warn others. The room wasn't serviced on Saturday, and the carpets felt sticky and in need of a deep clean. The sheets and doona cover were a poor fit too, leaving the mattress and doona exposed and feeling a bit cheap. We paid over 700$ for two nights and felt fleeced. The room had no fridge, though a helpful receptionist brought up milk when I asked. We eventually found the ironing board under the bed, but there was no sign or instruction, and it was hard to pull out. The blackout blind remote was missing, so all weekend we couldn't see out of the window or get natural light. The blind itself didn't reach the edges and looked melted or something, letting light in early. Noise from a nearby club went on very loudly until late or early morning. Maybe that's part of staying in Fortitude Valley, but we're from out of town and didn't know, so a warning or something like ear plugs would've helped. We booked through booking.com, which said the hotel had a pool, and a Google review photo also showed one, so we came ready to swim. The photos also gave us the impression there was more available for breakfast or a cafe area, which felt misleading. Maybe the hotel can ask booking.com to take down the pool information. We won't be back. Hopefully the hotel will consider these issues, improve its service, lower its prices, or add instructions for future guests.

Friendly service and a great spot, but the room wasn't cleaned until we asked, even though we'd put the card out. The aircon stays at “20°” while the room is 26, so it wasn't very comfortable. I'd like to say more positive things, but for the price it felt pretty average.

The bed, pillows and room were great, and reception staff were great too. But the coffee cup had a gross stain, so I had to swap it at reception, and there was a huge coffee stain on the chair. The sheet was so short that the mattress showed at both ends. It seemed like the cleaners could use another five minutes to look around before calling the job done.
