The main drawback is the $45 daily parking fee for hotel guests. Casino visitors and people dining at Star restaurants can get free parking, but hotel guests who stay, play and eat there get nothing. That feels like a pretty big gripe. We’ve just visited Star Grand for the second time, and the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Zara made check-in friendly and efficient. Our King Riverview room had a great view, as it did last time, and the facilities were what you’d expect. This one had an adjoining door. The free mini bar, stocked without alcohol, was a nice extra, and the room was serviced very well. We skipped breakfast at the hotel and went to Blabbers on the Skydeck instead. The service there was good and friendly, though the Blue Spinner Crab omelette disappointed. It was a bit pricey for such a small drizzle of crab on the eggs.

I’d love to see a childcare or kids’ activity service here, like the one at Carina Leagues Club, so parents could unwind while the kids are occupied. Even without that, The Star Grand Hotel has been a wonderful staycation spot for us, with restaurants and entertainment all together in one place. We’ve stayed three times during the school holidays and have loved each visit. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The bedding is my favourite part, the bed, pillows and blankets are so cosy and make for a great night’s sleep. I also love the signature scent when you walk in. It gives the place a luxurious feel. We’ll definitely be back. It’s always been a 5-star experience for us.

We’ve ordered dinner to the room, and it arrived fresh and tasted fantastic. The steak was tender, perfectly cooked and well seasoned, with tasty dressing and creamy garlic butter. I don’t usually eat fries, but these were the best I’ve ever had. The portions are generous and fairly priced. We’ve stayed at the Star Grand Hotel many times, and in a lot of ways we liked it better than the Darling. The rooms are modern and generally clean, with plenty of supplies, from bathrobes and body and face moisturisers to Star-branded chocolate. Staff have been friendly, attentive and helpful whenever we had a question or needed something. We always felt welcome and valued. The Star Grand Hotel is underrated. I highly recommend it!

We were upgraded to a river view room, and both the room and the view were so impressive we felt like a million dollars. The hotel’s interior is stunning, and it smells lovely everywhere. The Star is incredibly opulent and luxurious, well beyond what we expected. The pool facilities were unreal, probably the best I’ve experienced, with three pools, a sauna, a steam room and a great pool bar. I wish there were a breakfast buffet, though room service was just as good. The mini fridge had complimentary snacks and drinks, which we loved. Great staff. Can’t recommend it enough.

The complimentary mini bar was a lovely extra, and we’re very grateful to The Grand Star Brisbane Resort Hotel and its wonderful staff. We’ll definitely return and highly recommend it. We arrived on the morning of 16 December for our daughter and her fiancé’s graduation celebration. Their paid accommodation was a generous graduation gift, and the experience exceeded our expectations from the start. They were upgraded to a beautiful room with a lovely river view, a thoughtful gesture we really appreciated. One concierge team member deserves special mention. We didn’t get her name, but her kindness and professionalism made a lasting impression. She arranged and delivered a graduation cake to Cucina Regina on level 4, put graduation balloons in our daughter’s room, and looked after a bouquet of graduation flowers and a vase. She also helped take our luggage and helium balloons to the room for the dinner celebration, and handled valet parking smoothly. Her attention and genuine care made everything comfortable and enjoyable. We wish we’d asked her name so she could be recognised personally. She made a special occasion truly memorable.
