Bundalong Villas

The advertised photos make this look like a dream spot for a weekend, and the location is great. But the cabins were dirty, with stained blankets and floors, holes in the walls where rails had been removed, and broken blinds and chairs. Cobwebs covered the outdoor area, so we couldn't use it. When I asked for at least a 50% refund, the manager responded rudely. We would have left, but it was Easter weekend and nowhere else was available. They did try to fix some things, then said they couldn't because I hadn't called. I showed my phone's call log, but was told they hadn't received the calls, so they must not have happened. Before booking, I'd asked whether issues from earlier reviews, including the outdoor area, had been fixed. I was assured they had, but that wasn't true. This place has a lot of potential, but I wouldn't recommend it in its current state.

The cabins themselves were lovely and clean, and the new pool area looked great. The friendly staff at the Tavern were another bright spot. But driving in, the place looked like a demolition site, with rubbish and building materials everywhere. Outside the cabin, the cobwebs and furniture looked like they'd been through a dust storm. The paddock by the entrance looked like a tip, where they kept all the junk, and trees and grass were growing in the spouting. The presentation and maintenance were practically non-existent. It surprised us that they had strict rules about where to put rubbish and how to leave the cabin when the grounds were in such a state. There's real potential here, but it badly needs someone with an eye for detail.

The villa was comfortable enough, and the linen and kitchen were cleaned well, but poor maintenance let the place down during our week there. Fan switches had no knobs, some light globes didn't work, and there were holes in the plasterboard. The dishwasher didn't work, and there was no washing machine, despite it being advertised. The air conditioner made lots of noises and clicking, seemed to be struggling, and had an unbelievable amount of dust inside when I cleaned it myself. There was no internet, and nobody returned my messages when I called for help. The swim-up bar wasn't operating, building materials were scattered around the premises, and there was no grass for the kids to play on. The table tennis area looked nothing like the pictures. The pool was nice, but I had to scoop the little bugs out myself. It's a real shame, as the place has a lot of potential if more care went into cleaning and maintenance. On the plus side, the cafe across the road was amazing.

The pool area was really nice, though it could use more shady places to sit. Our two-bedroom cabin was very clean, and it even had a dishwasher, which we'd never used before. Glad there were instructions to follow. We could have washed up by hand, but thought we'd give it a try. There was an oversized table right by the entrance that we had to walk around. The two main issues were that our cabin was right next to the Tavern, so we could hear the music, and there were no signs for the entry or exit. We drove all around the park looking for the exit before realizing our cabin was right beside it. All in all, still a very nice place to stay.
