Stay in Mudgee

We were left without anywhere to stay, especially difficult since we had our dog with us. The church wasn’t ready when we arrived, and in 34-degree heat we were told to wait two hours for the cleaners. Communication from the two women handling the booking was extremely poor. After a distressing confrontation with Alex, she ordered us off the property.

The garden was lovely in the morning, with delightful birdsong, and the location and views are great. The gardens are pretty, the pool and tennis court were clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. It’s a very quiet retreat, though that can be spoiled when the church behind is rented and strangers walk through the garden or use the pool. We’re still enjoying ourselves, but the place could be a notch better with some care and attention to detail. The house feels very tired and needs TLC and a freshen-up. Kitchen amenities are sparse, and the dinner set is missing lots of plates and bowls. The cupboards need a proper scrub, the carpet is pulling away from the floor, and the uneven floor levels have already caused accidents with children. There was no DVD player as advertised, though Netflix was provided instead. We brought home movies to watch, so couldn’t see them.

Midweek, we had the place to ourselves since no one was in the big house. We stayed in the church, just the two of us, and found it cosy and very clean. The pool was great, and it’s a quiet location. We’ve recommended it to friends.
