A Villa Gail

Gail was such a warm and welcoming host during our stay at A Villa Gail. She made a point of meeting my family, checked in on us regularly and shared great recommendations. Muddy’s playground was a favourite with my kid. The villa was neat and well maintained, and the views made every sunrise memorable. There are quite a few stairs to get around, and guests should watch out for bugs and lizards inside. Those were minor considerations, though, and we enjoyed our stay thanks to Gail's hospitality and the villa's charm.

We were a family of seven and stayed for a week at A villa Gail. The rooms were clean and peaceful, with a stunning ocean view from the cliffs at Yorkeys Knob beach. Waking up to the sunrise was fantastic. Gail was a lovely host, friendly and knowledgeable about the town and its surroundings. She served breakfast with a big smile and suggested things to do based on the weather and sea conditions. The fresh fruit selection each morning was mind-blowing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, and we've already booked for next year. Thanks, Gail. See you in 2020!

Gail, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and communicated so well. When our courtesy bus forgot us, she even offered us a lift to the local boat club and took us there. We stayed in the Deluxe Appartment, which had all the essentials, including coffee, milk and condiments, plus an unbeatable view. The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up, with completely uninterrupted water views from it. The aged Grecian architecture and sculptures made the property feel a bit like Santorini. There are lots of stairs winding through the place, but each step felt like getting further away from the bustle of everyday life. This has been my most amazing AirBnB stay so far, and I can't wait to visit again.

The room was fairly clean, had an ensuite toilet and looked towards the ocean, but A Villa Gail was nowhere near a four-star hotel. I'd generously call it a two-star residence. No thongs were provided, and there was no shampoo or toothpaste. Despite what the photos suggest, there is no swimming pool, no WiFi, and guests can't use facilities such as the microwave or laundry. The non-refundable booking fee also means you could lose your money if you change your mind. The owner is an older woman who talks a lot and makes suggestions. Breakfast was included in my package, but it was a tray of rotten fruit, and it wasn't served at a regular time, basically whenever she felt like it. I also felt I had to watch my privacy, as she would pop out by the door whenever I was about to leave or arrive. For the price, I think you could find a much better place with more professional hospitality.
