Best Western Central Plaza

We had a really pleasant stay in a clean, nicely arranged one-bedroom apartment with everything we needed for the week. It had a comfortable bed, our own bathroom and toilet, washing machine and dryer, full kitchen, lounge, TV with Foxtel, dining table, and outdoor table and chairs on the veranda. We enjoyed the fresh air and morning sun at breakfast, and the cool evenings over dinner. There’s also undercover parking and security gates to protect vehicles. Shops and plenty of places to eat are nearby, and being directly across from Cairns Base Hospital was convenient for our hospital trips and appointments. Rod and his partner Cecelia were wonderful, welcoming and helpful. Rod checked us in without any hassle even though our flight arrived early and we were dropped off before the usual check-in time. We were tired from travelling and really appreciated his kind gesture. Cecelia greeted us, showed us to the room and helped carry our luggage up the stairs. She has a lovely smile and is beautiful inside and out. We highly recommend the place and will definitely stay again.

I got a lovely sunset view from the third floor, and the place was peaceful. The location made it easy to get around, and the staff were warm and helpful. They even let me check in a little early once the room was ready, which really helped.

Rod and the team at Central Plaza were so kind and honest. I’d left my Apple Watch in the bed by accident, and they found it, got in touch, and offered to send it all the way to Tasmania. I’m incredibly grateful for that care. Amazing people and service, and I’ll remember it. Highly recommend.

The staff weren’t around much, but when we called after hours about the broken fridge, someone brought us a replacement almost straight away. The location is reasonably accessible to town, though it’s at least a 10-15 minute walk, so a car suited us. Our apartment, 21, was tired and run down; a paint job and a quick visit to the local hardware store could help. It’s fine if you just need somewhere tidy to sleep, but not if you want fancy accommodation. We had a pleasant stay and would come back if the property were updated.
