My experience with Booking.com and Edge Apartment Cairns was terrible. I booked a stay through Booking.com on Xmas day 25th Dec 2025, received confirmation and have the booking reference. The next morning they emailed to say I needed to cancel because of a supposed “pricing error.” I made the booking in good faith, so I see that as a clear breach of our agreement. When I called customer service and asked them to honor the booking, since the mistake was theirs, the staff, especially the European representatives, were rude, dismissive and aggressive. They wouldn’t take responsibility, threatened me and hung up. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. During that call they said they’d work with Edge Apartment Cairns to honor the booking, or find me a similar place at the same price and cover any extra cost. I trusted them, but then got another email telling me to cancel or make an alternative booking somewhere else. That went against what they’d promised and showed a lack of respect for customers. Both Booking.com and Edge Apartment Cairns came across as untrustworthy and disrespectful. The service was terrible, and their actions were shameful for the hospitality industry. To all: stay far away from Booking.com and Edge Apartment Cairns. Dishonest and unprofessional.

The smell in the kids room was the worst part. When we got back from the shops, I found mushrooms growing out of the wall. We’d already noticed a strong cigarette and mould smell when we checked in. The kitchen wasn’t clean either, with food all over the oven and dirty kitchen wear. I bought spray to cover the smell, but that didn’t help. I contacted Greg from edge water apartments, and he said that if I didn’t like it, I could leave within an hour and he’d refund me. Pretty rude, especially after spending $1500 for 4 nights without getting a clean room or even an apology. Save your time and book elsewhere.

I know there’s no wifi, but I don’t get how there isn’t even a 5G signal. I haven’t seen 4G for years. Are you living in the 20th century?

The beds were clean and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and there was a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The pool was nice for cooling off, and surprisingly, you hardly hear the air traffic. Good value for money and a handy base for travelling around cairns, with everything you need. I’d recommend renting a car or taking an uber if you want to get downtown.
