The staff gave us such a warm welcome, and everyone was friendly and congratulated us on our marriage. My husband and I were here for our honeymoon, and I honestly wish we’d stayed longer. The room was tidy, comfortable and incredibly well appointed, in a great spot. Each evening we watched the flying foxes go out from our spacious balcony, then walked the boardwalk.

The staff were kind and polite, but after 15 days our overall experience was disappointing. Cleanliness was a major problem throughout. The room was only cleaned twice, and even then the replacement sheets were visibly dirty and stained. When we arrived, there was popcorn and dirt in the gaps in the couch cushions. The sheets, curtains and towels were stained, and the towels smelled unpleasant. The elevator smelled very bad the entire time, making it unpleasant to use each day. The cooking facilities were there, but the plates and utensils were dirty and smelled bad too. I understand the building is old, but cleanliness should still matter. For the price, it wasn’t worth it, and we won’t return.

We came to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef, and the hotel’s convenient location near lots of attractions was a real plus. Febrian at the front desk was especially helpful, offering great recommendations and patiently answering all our questions. He was pleasant and professional. Thanks for a great stay and wonderful service.

The location seems to be what you’re paying for. The room was average, and the bathroom was dirty, with hairs in the shower that weren’t mine. It could use a facelift, and even a complimentary bottle of water would be welcome. If I’d paid a budget rate, I wouldn’t mind as much, but I’ve stayed in cleaner, nicer country motels. I’d give it three stars at best, certainly not four. Disappointing, so consider other places and judge for yourself.
