Tranquil Shores Holiday Apartment

The manager was rude from the start. Our room hadn’t been cleaned, and there was no hot water at night. The dryer didn’t dry the clothes, the bedding was very basic, and the blankets were dirty. One toilet seat hadn’t been cleaned, and the curtains were ripped. We won’t be returning.

The location was good, close to the beach, and the room was an adequate size with good facilities. But the shower was mouldy, the air conditioner wasn’t clean, and the bath plug didn’t fit, so I couldn’t use the bath. Bring your own washing powder if you want to use the machine, even for the first use. That’s just an FYI, not a complaint. I think you could have a nice stay if you don’t have a run-in with the manager, but any issue you raise can taint it. We accidentally knocked the old, dirty toilet roll holder, shown in the pictures, and it broke. We told the manager when we left. He got quite angry and intimidating, blamed us for being too rough, and wouldn’t accept that it was old and brittle from sun exposure and might simply have broken from wear and tear. He said we’d be invoiced, but we never received one. Instead, there was an unauthorised $30 charge on our credit card. We also went down three or four times on Saturday when the office was meant to be open, but it was closed each time, with only a note saying to call if needed. The pool heating was questionable, and the spa wasn’t warm.

It’s a lovely spot for unwinding for a couple of days. The room was spacious and clean, with self-contained facilities and a great view. Beaches and shops are within walking distance. I’ll be back.

It was an easy, smooth check-in, and the apartment was spotless. We had a fantastic family weekend at Tranquil Shores Caloundra, with the beach, cafes, and lively Sunday markets just a short walk away. The kids loved it and are already asking when we can return. We’d definitely recommend it for a relaxing, family-friendly stay.
