Little Drifter Canberra

Little Drifters is in a great central spot, with everything walkable or a short bus ride away. The staff were really nice and helpful. I liked all the attention to detail in the hostel’s decor and common areas. Our room was clean and nice, and the beds had privacy curtains. The kitchen was clean too, with enough room to store groceries. We had a lovely stay.

The reception team were fantastic and helped with all my questions. They were happy to keep adjusting the room’s cooling and heating when I asked, and Claudia was friendly and helpful at checkout. The showers were a bit unpredictable for temperature, though the ones on floor 2 were better than floor 3. The lounge and rooftop were nice until the smokers arrived on the roof after work. The guests were a varied bunch, and I met a couple of travellers like me. The hostel felt quite new and shiny, and had a comfortable bed with two pillows, which felt like a luxury, plus good privacy curtains. It was reasonably priced and well kept, with a good location. I picked it because it’s the only hostel in Canberra, and I’d happily book it again.

The four-bunk women’s room was spacious, with lots of room to open several large suitcases. Each bed has curtains, a reading light, and charging ports, so there’s good privacy and convenience. There’s a TV and common room, a rooftop on the highest floor, and a kitchen downstairs. The bathrooms and toilets were clean, with enough hooks and space for clothes. My only complaint is that there are no hairdryers in the bathrooms, though reception can lend you one. Towel rental is $8, laundry is $7 per cycle, and laundry powder is $2.

The beds were comfortable and each one had curtains. The bathrooms stayed clean, and the kitchen was well equipped, though it could use more knives. The hostel is central, with a bus stop just around the corner. Staff were lovely, and we didn’t see a single cockroach, despite what other reviews said. We really enjoyed staying here and would come back.
