Mercure Canberra Belconnen

We were so comfortable that we've already booked another week for April. The beds are super comfy, housekeeping was very good, and the service was excellent. Our room looked out at the lake, with buildings on either side. The location is just right for us, and parking was fairly easy once we worked out the route. From the car park, use the public lift to the club reception, then walk to the other end of the building. Go through the glass doors, then there are about six steps or an open mini lift to the Mecure reception. They validate the parking ticket at the desk and give you the Mecures access key for the lift back to Level 3 or 4. From there, load your bags and take their lift to your floor and room. Cheers!

Easy, no-fuss check-in and checkout, and the place was clean. It's well placed for Belconnen central district, with the mall an easy walk away. Woolworths is just around the corner for supermarket shopping, and the labour club next door makes it easy to get a meal.

The shower was good, the air conditioning worked well, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The location was great too, so most of our stay was a good one. The receptionist was the one problem. He seemed annoyed that we were there bothering him, never smiled, and was cold and extremely unfriendly from start to finish. He made us feel unwelcome and put a negative mark on an otherwise good stay at this hotel.

The room was spacious, clean and lovely, with a nice view of the lake. I also got a complimentary upgrade, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a convenient spot near the shopping centre and supermarket, as well as beautiful Lake Ginninderra. Service was basic but friendly. Maybe because I'm an Accor Gold member, no one explained where to get the welcome drink or where breakfast and the gym were. It was my first visit, so that information would've helped. The upgrade was nice, but it shouldn't mean skipping those useful details for a first-time guest.
