Pier Hotel Coffs Harbour

Rooms were clean and tidy, with a medium amount of space, and affordable too. Staff were friendly and helpful, with recommendations for around town. The location's good, about 10 minutes' walk to the water and close to plenty of cafes and shops. Two thumbs up for the price. It was early week at the beginning of February, so noise was low. I can see Friday or Saturday being noisier with the pub downstairs. That's what to expect anywhere with a pub on site.

There's a great atmosphere, spacious seating and a friendly team at the bar, with a good selection of drinks at fair prices. We wanted to order from the specialists menu, as the signs suggested, but were told at the bar they weren't doing specialist on Thursday night. We tried the arancini balls, chicken parmi and nachos. The arancini was lovely; the parmi was okay, but the crumb was soggy, while the veggies and mash were awesome. Nachos were nice, though too cold. A nice spot for drinks and a meal.

The shared bathroom is kept clean and tidy, and you have it to yourself while you're using it. It stays locked while engaged, so nobody else can come in, which I liked because I didn't have to worry about my belongings while showering.

The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the hotel staff were amazing. But for a Deluxe Queen room with private bathroom at $252 per night, advertised as boutique accommodation, finding no air conditioning after climbing 2 flights of stairs was horrifying. In hot, humid Coffs Harbour, that's unforgivable. The ceiling fan barely helped, and the room was actually hotter than outside. We couldn't open the only small window either. Unacceptable at that rate.
