The view is fantastic, and that’s where your money goes. The rest of the house doesn’t live up to the price. The bedrooms feel bare and unwelcoming, and the single small bathroom is nowhere near the standard you’d expect. There were four of us, and although the house was already expensive, we were charged another $50.00 per person per night for our two guests. We each had just one towel for three days, and one guest was short a towel. I rang the caretakers, who kindly brought another set when I asked. The house sleeps up to five and has room for another bathroom. If you want good reviews at this price, you need to think more about the people renting it. It can’t all be about the view. The plastic kettle needs replacing, too. We boiled water on the stove so our tea wouldn’t taste of plastic. I wouldn’t recommend this house.

We were really looking forward to our Coles Bay trip for our 25th wedding anniversary, but ended up leaving a day early. We’d booked three nights at considerable expense, yet got very little for the money. The house was clean and had a nice view, but the owners and property managers seem tight with what they provide. It felt like the money mattered more than making the place warm and comfortable. I wish I’d never booked it. It had rained heavily all day when we arrived, and the house was freezing inside. There was a wood heater, but we weren’t allowed to use it after October. The two panel heaters barely helped, even on a day when the temperature reached only 6°. We had one standard towel each, one hand towel to share for three days, and one tiny UMT milk. Some cupboard doors were missing. There were only basics, with no games or cards for bad weather. The parking area flooded, so we had to leave the car practically on the street and wade through water to reach it. We didn’t receive the door code until 2:40 on check-in day.

When Tasmania went into lockdown, Sentinel kept all our money. I’d have thought some of it would be refundable when no service was provided, but they chose to profit from the situation. With the outbreak and all the uncertainty, I’d never book here again.
