Greenmount Beach House

This was our second stay, since it’s close to Twin Towns and the price is very good. The accommodation is basic but comfortable, with clean rooms, refurbished looking interiors and comfortable beds. The curtains could do with replacing, and the resort as a whole looks tired. Parking is a problem: the car park is tiny, and both times we’ve had to park on the street. If you want reasonably priced, comfortable accommodation, I’d recommend Greenmount.

It's a beautiful old building with amazing design and wonderful timber lifts that you don't see often. The location is incredible, the rates are reasonable, and there are great surfing spots right nearby. But getting boards through the hotel or into the rooms is hard, and the storage room doesn't open until 7.30am. The bathroom ceiling was so low my head almost hit it. Parking is a major issue. I had to move my car every few hours. There's a car park, but no space assigned to my room, and it isn't secure, so the general public uses it without enforcement. The decaying ceiling left everything in my room coated in concrete dust, and I kept sneezing. It's extremely noisy next to the surf club. Just before midnight, a huge brawl there was being dealt with by police. The facilities are falling apart, and the place is due to be demolished soon, so stay while you can.

Great spot right beside the beach, about 10-15mins from the airport. It's an older hotel, but everything was clean. The pool was lovely in the afternoon, with plenty of shade, umbrellas and seating, and there's a slide too. They let me leave my luggage and got my room ready before the usual 3pm check-in, which was a bonus. I'd definitely stay again.

Fabulous location, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and well maintained. Parking is the only downside. There’s very little on-site, and if you're disabled, having to park down the street or near the surf club isn't convenient. For the price, guests should have allocated parking, or the listing should state this clearly.
