The bartender at the Alpine Hotel Pub made our late afternoon stop in Cooma easy. The kitchen wasn't opening until 6:00 pm, but she suggested we walk to the nearby bakery, bring back pies, and eat them at the pub. That worked perfectly. We had delicious pies, cold, excellent beer, and a relaxed local atmosphere. Thanks for the friendly welcome and flexibility, it made the visit really pleasant.

The vegan pub meal was one of the best I've had. My friend got a standard pub meal and said the schnitty was overdone. The place had pretty good vibes, and the vegan option was a pleasant surprise.

We went to the Alpine Hotel for dinner after several people recommended it, but it was a letdown. By 7pm, two of the day's specials had already sold out. The pasta was very bland, the fish and chips were dry and tasteless, and the steak we ordered rare came out closer to blue.

A proper old-school Aussie pub with great vibes and a really nice owner and staff. Probably the best Guinness I've had in Aus!

It's a great historic pub, so worth a visit for that. The food was terrible, though. I haven't been served food this inedible in a very long time. The pork belly bites were the worst meat I've ever been served, and the duck in the duck salad was rubbery and didn't seem identifiable as duck. The salad itself was okay. Go for a drink, but don't bother with the food.
