For the price, it does provide a basic place to sleep overnight, and it’s close to the Spirit of Tasmania berth. The sheets and towels were clean, and the water worked well with a good temperature. Beyond that, it’s very basic and run down. There were no remotes for either the air conditioner or TV. The bathroom was unacceptable: dirty, broken shower tiles, a latch that didn’t work, loose vinyl flooring, and ants. The mirror was broken too. The kitchenette had mismatched plates and no teaspoons. Milk for tea or coffee was supplied on one visit but not the next. Ignore the promotional photos, the place looks nothing like them. It’s difficult to review because the price reflects what you get.

I didn’t read the reviews before booking, same as the other people who left bad ones. The place really does look like somewhere people might go to commit suicide. But the staff were very friendly, the admin girl was lovely, and they let me bring my dog, which is rare and a huge relief. Being so close to the ferry terminal was a big plus for us. If you stay there, don’t leave a bad review just because you didn’t do your research first. That’s on you. Be grateful they had a room for you. You could have ended up sleeping in your car.

The whole property is run down, and I’m honestly stunned they could rent a room like this out in good conscience. I paid $94, even with a discount. The room was filthy. There were stains on the bedding, holes in the doors stuffed with toilet paper, seats covered in cigarette burns, and filthy side tables and carpet. Partly used toilet rolls were left around. The microwave was smashed but still turned on, which seemed hazardous. The smoke detector was hanging down with exposed, disconnected 240v live wires that could easily be touched. I’d called ahead and was told no rooms were available, even though rooms were listed on Booking.com and Agoda, so I booked through Agoda. After I saw the room and decided I couldn’t stay, the woman at the desk said, “Oh yes the upstairs rooms are the cheap ones,” as if that made it acceptable.

The bathroom door wouldn’t close, and the shower area looked like something out of a horror movie. The carpet was so dirty, stained, and dusty that I can’t imagine it had been vacuumed. The microwave looked like it had never been cleaned. Dirty, dusty room and dirty sheets. The worst motel I’ve ever stayed at. Don’t stay here.
