Corryong Hotel Motel

The meal was good and the portions were massive. My wife’s Black Angus steak was juicy and tender, with a big serve of thick chips, though the salad was completely plain and undressed. My Beef Burger was huge too, but the patty and egg were piled above the lettuce, tomato, beetroot and cheese, which made it awkward to eat. We were there for lunch during a Saturday drive, arriving around 12:30 to find the old pub already packed. From the deck there are lovely views of Mittamatite. Ordering and collecting food is self service at the bar and counter, and you choose your own table. There were just two staff on, a young woman at the bar and a young chef in the kitchen, and both looked seriously overworked. The worst part was the group of loud, drunk local men in the bar. They were yelling and swearing, one fell off his chair, and another kept coming into the dining area to chat with mates. They were still being served drinks while we had to hear one man brag about his sex life, to his friends’ applause. It really put us off. Responsible service of alcohol matters. Three stars only because of that.
