The team, and Sascha in particular, went above and beyond to make me comfortable. This room jumped straight into my top five hotel rooms, and I’ve travelled a lot. It’s beautifully designed, luxurious but comfortable, spotlessly clean, and has Aesop products and a fire in the room. You’ll be farther from the city, though it’s still only a 30 min drive, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Check out The Lane Vineyard and Cleland wildlife park for great food and views, and a chance to feed kangaroos and wallabies and hold a koala. 10/10, would recommend.

The car park fills quickly and it gets busy, so I’d definitely book ahead. We came for a Sunday meal for the first time and had a great experience. It’s been ages since I enjoyed a pub meal this much. My partner had the fish and I had the fried calamari, which was cooked really well and wasn’t rubbery. The fresh fries were lovely, and the spring salad with apple was refreshing. We really enjoyed it and would happily come again.

We had a nice lunch in a pleasant atmosphere, with good food overall. The burger was a bit blackened on the outside. Staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good range of beers on tap, at the usual $12 a pint for craft beers.

We only had one night, which was a shame because the hotel felt so luxurious and we were thoroughly spoilt. The room was clean and tidy, the amenities were fantastic, and we loved the Aesop products and the little treats waiting for us after a delicious dinner. We also had a wonderful meal downstairs. We’re already looking forward to returning for a much longer stay.

The servings weren’t huge and the prices were high, though the food was more gourmet than standard pub fare, so it’s worth checking out. There’s a good variety on the menu, with indoor and outdoor seating, and the fresh food was very nice. The inside has been beautifully renovated and looks vastly different from when I was a younger bloke.
